 How do these issues affect you? You friends and family?

These issues affect me, my family, and my friends for many safety reasons. For modern technology being improved over time the government knows entirely too much of what happens behind closed doors in everyone's life. It is really dangerous for police stations to make assumptions about who people are based on a social media account. Technology has the ability to find out everything about anyone's private life and it is very scary. Also, strangers can find hidden information about me, my family, and my friends and that is why it is very dangerous how much social media has impacted people's lives. Once something is uploaded to social media it is out there forever and it is never deleted. There is a way for anyone to spread things online, make fake accounts, bullying, and blackmail. It is never a good thing to be in any of those situations with it all being online because it really does not go away. 

What should the government be doing about these issues?

The government should really ban social media because it is ruining people's lives. There is a lot of negativity on social media which comes with a lot of opinionated things as well.  The government should really step forward and take action to help people with all of these bad things happening online. People's private lives are being spread all around online and it is not safe for others. There are dangerous people out there who cannot control themselves with their actions. It is very important for the government to step up and make sure people have private accounts and ban fake accounts on all social media. They do not know who is behind the screen when people are communicating online. That is why the government needs to make sure adults and children are being protected online with anything that goes on. Age does not matter in this situation because people's private information is a serious issue. The government really needs to take charge and be on top of the latest that is going on social media. 

What can we do to protect ourselves from invasions of our privacy?

To protect ourselves from invasions of privacy everyone should have private accounts on all social media platforms. There are always spam accounts and people trying to be different people online so it is very dangerous to have accounts open to the public. Anyone in the world can reach your account and find all information about someone and that should be private. There are not only adults online there are many kids who are starting to be on social media as well. These kids' parents need to make sure they are monitoring who they are talking to and what they are watching because it can be a lot of inappropriate stuff. Kids should not be talking to strangers because nothing good comes out of that. People need to be protected and respect others' privacy, but when everything is out on social media is it very hard for all of this to happen. People need to be safe with what they are putting out online because everyone's information needs to be protected from others. 

Five Sources of News

 1. TikTok- TikTok is such a big social media platform nowadays. There are always videos on my "For you page" that consistently pop up showing my current events of what is going on in the world.  I follow certain pages that show me the most updated news of what I want to know. Right when something occurs there is always a video that will come upon my page that I can watch. Most of the time I don't even have to search for the most recent news it just is always there. It is really beneficial for me because a social media app that is very entertaining will also teach me a lot about what goes on in today's society. 

2. Instagram- Instagram has been around for a while and was always the app to show posts of different current events going on in the world. There are multiple accounts that are strictly just for the news that I follow so they will always be on my home page when I scroll through the app. Instagram makes it easy for me to know the most updated information. The app has a new feature called "Reels" and it is all video-based content which allows me to also see different news videos going on. Not only does Instagram inform me with pictures with current news, but videos as well. 

3. News app- The News app is very beneficial because when things are extremely important I will get a notification right away on my phone. It is the most convenient app to have on my phone to keep me posted in times of crisis. The second notification appears on my phone it makes me want to read the current situation going on. It is a very educational way for me to learn more about what is going on in the world. I think it is important for college students to be aware of some of the current events taking place in society to keep us safe and protected. 

4. YouTube- YouTube has a lot of videos of literally anything you want to watch in the world. I watch YouTube at any given chance I could get. It has the most updated videos posted on the home screen to keep everyone up to date with today's news. Not only do I learn about the news on this app it has taught me a lot about everything. If I do not know how to do something I quickly type it in the search bar and a ton of videos will demonstrate how to do it. It is a very educational and informative app to show me what goes on on a day-to-day basis. 

5. Fox News- This news channel is a great source to use to find information in today's world. It is always on in my house and there is a lot of time when I am relaxing with my parents we watch the news. It has a lot of updating statistics to catch me up on what is going on. It shows a lot of sides of what people think about certain situations in the world. People have opinions and thoughts, so it is always nice to hear what they have to say about things too. Fox News has helped greatly with keeping me educated and aware of what is occurring around me.
